Commercial Glass Restoration
Large-scale glass restoration for commercial buildings, retail, and construction projects. Significant savings over replacement.
Get a Free QuoteCommercial glass fails differently from domestic glass. It is bigger, it is harder to reach, it is seen by customers and staff every day, and replacing it means disruption to a working building. That combination is why restoration makes more financial sense in a commercial setting than almost anywhere else.
We restore glass in place, out of hours, across offices, retail units, hotels, gyms, restaurants and managed residential blocks throughout London.
Why replacement is usually the wrong answer commercially
The cost of a commercial pane is rarely the main cost. The main cost is everything around it: booked lifts and hoists, permits to work, out-of-hours access, traffic management, a manufacturing lead time on a non-standard unit, and the days during which the space looks like a building site or sits behind boarding.
Restoration removes all of that. The pane never leaves the frame. A technician attends, works through the polishing sequence, and leaves. For large-format or high-level glazing the total saving against replacement is routinely 80–90%, and the building keeps trading throughout.
Where we work
- Office partitioning, glazed meeting rooms and reception screens
- Curtain walling and structural glazing on commercial towers
- Retail shopfronts and display windows
- Hotel, restaurant and leisure glazing, including gym mirrors and screens
- Communal entrances, lobbies and balustrades in managed residential blocks
- Post-construction and fit-out damage across whole developments
The failure modes we see most
Cleaning damage is the single largest category. A contract cleaner working quickly with an abrasive pad, or a squeegee that has picked up grit, leaves a fine haze across the pane that only appears in direct light — which is exactly when customers see it. It is entirely removable, and it recurs unless the cleaning method changes, which is something we will always flag.
Fit-out and construction damage is the second. Protective film left on too long and baked hard by sun, adhesive residue, render and mortar splash, scaffold contact, and blade marks from removing stickers. This is nearly always surface-level damage on a very expensive unit, discovered at snagging when the contractor is under time pressure and the default quote is full replacement.
Vandalism is the third — scratched-in tagging and acid etching on street-level frontage. It cannot be cleaned off because the glass itself has been removed, but it polishes out, and doing so is far cheaper than a new shopfront pane.
How we work on commercial sites
We provide RAMS and insurance documentation in advance as standard, and work within your permit-to-work system. Most jobs are scheduled evenings, early mornings or weekends. Because the process is wet-polishing rather than grinding, there is no dust, no fumes and no fire risk, so it can be carried out in occupied buildings without evacuating adjacent space.
For multi-unit work — a floor of partitioning, a block of communal entrances, a snagging list across a development — we price per visit rather than per callout. Treating twenty panes in one attendance is dramatically cheaper per pane than twenty separate visits, and it is the single easiest way for a facilities manager to reduce the cost of this work.
Working with contractors and managing agents
A significant share of our work comes through main contractors, fit-out firms, facilities managers and managing agents. We are usually brought in at the point where a snagging list has been priced for glass replacement and someone has asked whether that is really necessary.
Often it is not. We assess from photographs, tell you which panes are genuinely beyond restoration, and price the rest. Being straight about the exceptions is what makes the relationship work — a contractor who is told everything is fixable stops believing the next assessment.
